Are GUNS better than GOLD ???

Although it might be temporary........GOLD is suckin' quite hard lately.

Anyone stocking up on GUNS & Ammo instead ??? ......2-weeks ago I sold off a couple of Gold coins near $900 per oz and got a SIG 556 rifle.

Glad I did seeing what's going on right now..........maybe it's GUNS are MONEY ???

Absolutely right. Don't they have some arbitrary number like "6" where if you sell more guns than that in a year you are a "dealer" and better have a license?

If you are expecting an AW ban, then buy a stack of AR stripped lowers for $100 each. Should be a good investment. Who knows... maybe when the time comes to sell them our country will be in complete anarchy and the BATF won't even matter.

Probably the best investment over the past 3-4 years has been ammo. It has increased in price way more than guns or pm's.

You are correct sir. I do believe that what's described (selling guns to make a profit) is unlawful unless you have a FFL.

Future unclear.......hard to tell.....both gold and guns subject to outlaw with historical precedent.......
Maybe 10k scrap is a good idea......Ferfal was sayin' something like that.....

I wouldn't put all my eggs in one basket. Diversify your investments but I would always lean towards guns and bullets more than gold and silver. Regardless if they get banned, that would only make their value go up even higher.

VERY difficult and VERY intrusive.

Ammunition was a GREAT investment....especially .308 and .223 surplus.

You will become a custodian of paperwork -- slip up even in the order in which it is filed and they will be all over you.

I've thought about getting a C&R license just so I could stock up on mil-surp, but this license does not permit you to "engage in the business" (make a living) selling firearms.

Buy from 'evil gun shows' or privately if at all possible....no paperwork in free states at least.

TRUE, but anyone here who has a regular job will be hard pressed to make more $$$ off sellin' guns than his/her own paycheck.

C&R = collector

You can sell guns to increase or expand one's collection and there's no mention on a restriction of how many.

Anyhow, it's a good hobby for some cash on the side when able.......just be sure to buy a pricey weapon for replacement as an upgrade every once in a while.

Also, buying off individuals in one's own state with cash is a good way to go.........draw your own conclusions.

Re: Are GUNS better than GOLD ???

:553: I don't think I've mentioned this but things are turning strange on the firearm scene...locally,that is.

My local guy at the pawn shop is up to his eyeballs in long guns and pistols.
I have never saw his place so full of firearms in the last ten years.
Last week he told me he was being slammed with people pawning their guns for gas money and groceries...yeah,like that's a revelation.

When the economy turns nasty guns seem to be the first thing people want to pawn, mainly because there is always a demand.
All this gun pawning and selling at the start of deer hunting season struck me as a little too bizarre for normal.

He says nobody is buying firearms...just pawning...go figure.

I see it as a "firearm positive" break in the gun market for buyers.
Maybe a nationwide glut of firearms being pawned or sold to raise cash will lower prices down to reasonable levels.
I sure hope so,but ammo prices are still rising.

Something to keep in mind...this phenomenon might snowball if the economy tanks deeper towards a full blown depression.

If that happens...guns will definitely be a wiser investment than gold.

I took advantage of the Dicks BOGO50% last week and just ordered some mags, HP ammo, a speed loader, grease, CLP and some misc. 10/22 accessories (extractor and bolt buffer) from MidwayUSA. I'd say my discretionary spending has certainly been towards firearms as of recent.

I also think a wise investment for an individual, but as far as trading wampum - I'd rather simultaneously handle poisonous vipers and crimp blasting caps with my teeth than broker firearms - especially in desperate times.

Payday for me in ten days - and counting. I guess I'm johnny-come-lately, but I plan on purchasing one case of centerfire rifle ammunition, optics for one rifle that doesn't have open sights and maybe three slings-and a partridge in a pear tree!!!:9536:

Re: Are GUNS better than GOLD ???

Even Obummer's ascendancy hasn't raised the prices of items like "assault" weapons and hi-caps -- so I don't know what will. Gun prices have fallen over the last 10 years, accounting for inflation -- e.g., a Glock 19 costs me the same now as it did in 1998. The only exceptions seem to be NFA items, collectibles, and the occasional discontinued or "soon to be banned" item. Ammo prices have risen simply because the costs of the underlying components have shot up.

I found a legendary deal on cheaper than dirt on Federal 9mm +p+ hollowpoint ammo (police over stock) 50 round boxes going for 15.59.

I ordered like three times last week and the last order was so big someone has to sign for it. (you can imagine).

You don't catch momma's drift.
Let's pick an illicit subject.
Let's say pot fields.
Those who know where the pot field is don't talk. It is unnecessary. If you need to know then you will be shown and talk is largely secondary to being shown.
Those who don't know a thing (say, where the pot field is) will be the ones running their mouths.
Business is still well underway.

You know what bugs me, though?

My method is to watch the local "little nickel" etc. type papers for firarms. You can always find some lady who is sticking it to her "ex" or soon to be husband for some good firearms deals.

No paperwork, no names. Cash and carry, no way that piece will ever get taken away.

You know that's funny. I did the same thing.

On a side note, I dropped into one of the local pawns that I do business with, haven't been there for a few months, and he had just put out 6 new Romanian AK-47s. He was asking $595 for them. All of his prices are going up. Said business was good selling guns. I have been going there for years, and he now mainly sells guns, and when he can, a few old tools of which he has a few million.

Too bad I have never had a rifle as well....or at least you will never find a transaction anywhere that says I have:)

I'm still holding out on stockpiling ammo, as I think the metal prices will eventually filter over to ammo and I think prices in the near future will drop a slight bit(before going back up when Obama does something)

It mainly depends on which FFL you're applying for. Unless you own a brick and morter location, it's almost impossible for holding a 03 SOT(which most people call a Class 3 Dealer). For getting a 001 FFL(dealer lisc), it's very hard unless you are at least renting a store front. Getting a 007 FFL(manufacturer lisc, which most gunsmiths hold) is a tad bit easier than getting the other FFL's. It's pretty common for gunsmiths to work out if their houses.

I'm going through the process of getting a 007 FFL and this is what's involved so far. You need to hold a LLC or incorportate yourself, have a state ID number, federal ID, have approval from the city you live in or plan to do buiness in, file your paperwork, pay fee and then wait. Next you have an interveiw from BATFE field agent and they explain to you all the rules and regulations. The BATFE is required to do a suprise inspection(during your posted buiness hours) at least once every three years, but they can inspect you as often as they want.

One of my friends holds a 007 FFL and a 02 SOT and he just had his first inpection(pretty close to the three year mark), he just got back from his honeymoon and was in the door only about ten minutes and there was a knock on te door. It was the BATFE, time for your inspection. They mainly inspected his bound books and checked over his inventory. The main thing they get pissy about is people not keeping up with their records, he said the agent was very polite and respectful.

You also have to remember what the BATFE is and was origanially designed for, they are revenuers. Just making sure the government get's their peice of your pie. If you don't want the government your house, don't invite them in.
